Family Sues Carnival After Alleged Assault on Carnival Jubilee

A Carnival Jubilee cruise turned into something far more serious for one Texas family, and now Carnival is being sued over what the passengers say happened next.

What makes this case stand out is what the family says happened before the alleged assault. They claim they warned Carnival security that a group of young adults was harassing them, but say not enough was done to step in.

That’s the part that could put the spotlight firmly on Carnival, not just the passengers accused of carrying out the attack.

The image presents the Carnival Jubilee cruise ship, a part of Carnival Cruise Line's fleet, as it sails through blue waters under a bright sky dotted with clouds. The ship's large structure, with multiple decks and a characteristic red and white funnel, stands out against the vast ocean. The vessel's name is prominently displayed on the hull, and it appears ready to offer a festive and fun-filled experience to its passengers.

What The Lawsuit Alleges

According to the complaint referenced in the reporting, the case stems from an incident on June 20, 2025, while Carnival Jubilee was sailing. Aiden Chambers, then 19, and his 12-year-old sister say they were followed and verbally harassed by a group of unidentified young adults while on Deck 9 of the ship.

The lawsuit claims the harassment went on for a significant period before turning physical. The siblings also say they did not provoke the group and believe Aiden may have been targeted because he is autistic.

The siblings say they reported the behavior to Carnival’s onboard security team because they were scared for their safety. But the lawsuit claims no meaningful action was taken to separate the group, remove the threat, or escort the family somewhere safe.

That point matters because cruise security is usually expected to start gathering statements, reviewing camera footage, and deciding whether guests should be confined to their cabin or otherwise restricted. The article stops short of saying exactly how far Carnival had gotten in that process before the alleged assault happened, but the family argues the response was not quick enough.

The complaint says that a short time after reporting the initial harassment incident to security, the siblings were cornered in a hallway while heading back to their cabin. Aiden allegedly tried to protect his younger sister and the other minors with them, but was then badly beaten. Reporting on the lawsuit says he suffered a brain injury, along with injuries to his wrist, back, and head. His sister was also allegedly assaulted before getting into the cabin.

The lawsuit further claims security personnel did not arrive on the scene in a timely manner. It also claims crew later admitted they had not been keeping a close enough watch on the situation.

Why Carnival Is Being Sued

The Carnival Jubilee cruise ship is captured sailing across the ocean under a deep blue sky during what appears to be the golden hour, as the ship is bathed in warm light. The ship’s iconic red funnel and vibrant exterior are prominently displayed, with several decks visible, each lined with lifeboats. The scene highlights the grandeur of the ship against the expansive and tranquil sea.

Even though the alleged attackers were other passengers, the lawsuit argues Carnival failed in its duty to keep guests safe once security had been warned. The case accuses the cruise line of negligence tied to how the threat was handled after it was first reported.

The complaint also argues Carnival should have been aware of the wider risk of passenger violence onboard and should have had stronger monitoring and security measures in place. In other words, this is not just about who threw the punches. It is about whether the cruise line had enough warning to step in before things spiraled.

That will likely be a key issue if the case moves forward. In simple terms, the family is arguing that once the threat had been reported, Carnival had a duty to act fast and keep them out of harm’s way.

Carnival Has Not Yet Filed A Response

Carnival has not yet filed a response in court. That means these claims are still allegations, not findings of fact.

Carnival Jubilee is still operating normally and continues to sail Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston. The ship is one of Carnival’s biggest, carrying more than 5,300 guests at full capacity, which naturally puts extra pressure on public spaces and onboard security.

Carnival also publicly says disruptive behavior is not tolerated. Under the line’s code of conduct, guests whose actions affect the safety or well-being of others can be removed from the ship at their own expense and banned from sailing again in the future. Carnival’s policy also says violations may bring a $500 fine, cabin confinement, and removal from the ship.

Final Word

This lawsuit is still at an early stage, so there’s a lot we don’t know yet. But the bigger point is one most cruise passengers will immediately understand. When someone tells ship security they feel unsafe, they expect that warning to be taken seriously.

That’s what gives this story a wider impact. Beyond the details of one alleged incident, it puts the focus on how quickly a cruise line responds when passengers say a situation is getting out of hand.
