One highlight of Royal Caribbean’s itineraries is Perfect Day at CocoCay, their private island in the Bahamas, which is a frequent stop on Caribbean cruises.

Celebrity Cruises isn’t far behind, with 33 embarkation ports across the globe. Celebrity Cruises Food
While Celebrity Cruises doesn’t have the same extensive list of dining venues as some other lines, the focus here is on quality over quantity. Each restaurant delivers an elevated dining experience, with menus crafted by world-class chefs and a more premium vibe throughout.
On my last Celebrity Cruise, the food was truly outstanding. From the exquisite dishes at Murano, which serves classic French cuisine, to the exclusive suite-only restaurant Luminae, offering Michelin-star-level creations, every meal felt like a special occasion. The atmosphere was refined yet relaxed, with stylish decor and exceptional service that made dining onboard an absolute highlight of the trip.

Alternatively, for a balance, you could opt for an older Royal Caribbean ship with fewer thrill-based attractions.

But don’t underestimate Celebrity Cruises—they take originality to the next level and may even surprise you with performances that rival or surpass your old favourites.
Kids’ Facilities

Royal Caribbean is a family favourite thanks to its exceptional children’s facilities. The Adventure Ocean kids’ clubs are divided into smaller age groups, ensuring children enjoy activities tailored to their interests and developmental stages.
Beyond the clubs, kids can explore fun spaces like the Adventure Science Lab, Imagination Studio, and Adventure Theatre, where movies and TV shows are always on offer. Royal Caribbean ships are designed to keep kids entertained from morning to night.

On our last Celebrity cruise, my little one said it was one of her favourite kids’ clubs—possibly because there were fewer children, which meant she got a lot more personal attention from the staff. Celebrity’s family offerings may not be as extensive as Royal Caribbean’s, but they’re far from an afterthought.

If you’re travelling with kids and want a cruise packed with activities designed for younger guests, Royal Caribbean is the clear winner. From kids’ clubs to family-friendly attractions, there’s simply more for children to enjoy.
That said, if you’re set on a Celebrity cruise, rest assured that your kids will still have a great time at Camp at Sea, enjoying a mix of fun and educational activities while you relax and unwind.
Cruiser Demographics
The demographics for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises aren’t worlds apart, but there are some key differences worth noting.
Royal Caribbean Demographic
Royal Caribbean is aimed at “adventure-seeking families, couples, and singles in their 30s to 50s.” The average age onboard tends to skew younger than many other cruise lines, thanks to the action-packed activities and family-friendly vibe.
However, since Royal Caribbean cruises are more mid-range in price, you won’t typically find a lot of younger parents in their 20s. Instead, you’re more likely to see families with school-age kids, couples, and groups of friends looking for fun at sea.

Neither Royal Caribbean nor Celebrity Cruises can be considered budget-friendly, but how do their prices compare?
Royal Caribbean Prices
The cost of a Royal Caribbean cruise varies widely depending on the ship and itinerary. Older, smaller ships often provide great value, while newer, larger ships can be more expensive for a mainstream cruise line.
For example, a 7-night Caribbean cruise on Wonder of the Seas—one of the biggest ships in the fleet—typically costs between $130 (£100) and $165 (£130) per person per night for an Inside Stateroom.
Celebrity Cruises Prices
As a premium cruise line, Celebrity Cruises tends to be slightly pricier than Royal Caribbean, even though the inclusions are similar. Positioned as a five-star cruise line (just below ultra-luxury), Celebrity offers a more refined experience, which is reflected in the price.
On newer Celebrity ships, you might find prices comparable to Royal Caribbean, but for a 7-night Caribbean itinerary, costs can reach around $190 (£150) per person per night for an Inside Stateroom.

When it comes to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises, it’s not about one being better than the other—they’re simply designed for different audiences. That said, they share a lot in common, which is why they work so well as sister cruise lines.
If you’re looking for a cruise that focuses more on family fun with vibrant, activity-packed ships, Royal Caribbean is the natural choice. But if you’re after a more premium experience, with luxurious dining and a refined atmosphere, Celebrity Cruises might be a better fit.
That said, there’s a lot of crossover between the two, from the quality of the kids’ clubs to the incredible live entertainment. If you can, why not try both? Each has its own charm, and the best way to know which is right for you is to experience them yourself.
