Carnival Cruise Line has provided additional details about what guests can expect from the Milestones portion of its upcoming Carnival Rewards program. For frequent cruisers, this includes bonus points, recognition perks, commemorative items, and onboard credit at higher levels.

With the program set to launch in about two months, this update answers one of the most common questions guests have had since the changes were first announced.

Milestones are one component of Carnival Rewards, but they operate separately from the stars-and-points system. In short, stars determine a guest’s status level, points can be redeemed for rewards, and Milestones serve as one-time recognition achievements based on total days sailed with Carnival.

Carnival explained this in a message to guests, noting that every day spent sailing contributes toward Milestones recognition and that reaching new levels is designed to be more accessible.

Days Sailed Are the Only Factor

The most important takeaway is that Milestones are based solely on the number of days a guest has sailed with Carnival.

Two Carnival cruise ships docked at the pier at Celebration Key in The Bahamas.

They are not influenced by how many cruises a guest has taken, how much they spend onboard, the type of stateroom booked, or any other factors beyond total days at sea.

This clarification confirms that spending habits or cabin choices will not impact Milestone progress.

The more days a guest sails, the more recognition they receive.

Rewards at 50 Days

The first Milestone is reached at 50 days sailed.

At this level, guests receive 5,000 Carnival Rewards points, which can be redeemed for various benefits such as cruise fares, deposits, pre-cruise purchases, or onboard expenses.

Carnival has shared sample redemption values to give guests an idea of how points may be used. For example, a six-pack of soda is listed at 1,357 points, a Bonsai Teppanyaki dinner at 2,400 points, and a thermal suite day pass at 3,000 points.

Guests will also receive a special Sail & Sign card at this level, although Carnival has not yet revealed its design or how it will differ from standard cards.

This detail is notable because Sail & Sign cards are already undergoing a redesign, with newer versions expected to feature a vertical layout and display each guest’s total nights sailed.

Additional Perks at 100 Days

At 100 days sailed, the rewards increase.

Guests will receive an additional 10,000 Carnival Rewards points, the special Sail & Sign card, a commemorative coin, and two additional benefits that have not yet been fully defined.

These are described as onboard recognition and a Milestones onboard credit.

Carnival has not yet clarified how these perks will work or whether they may vary depending on factors such as sailing or cabin type.

The same reward structure will repeat at 200, 300, and 400 days sailed.

Enhanced Recognition at 500 Days

At 500 days sailed, the rewards become more substantial.

This milestone represents more than 16 months spent at sea with Carnival, and the cruise line marks it with additional recognition beyond points and onboard perks.

Guests reaching this level will receive all benefits from the 100-day milestone, along with a commemorative award and a special gift.

Unlike earlier rewards, these items will be shipped directly to the guest’s home rather than distributed onboard.

This enhanced recognition continues at 600, 700, 800 days, and every additional 100-day milestone thereafter.

While the initial Milestone rewards are relatively modest, the higher levels are clearly designed to acknowledge Carnival’s most dedicated guests.

Why the Program Has Caused Confusion

Since its announcement in June 2025, Carnival Rewards has generated some confusion among guests, largely due to its multi-part structure.

The program consists of three distinct elements, each serving a different purpose.

Stars determine a guest’s status level, such as Red, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond.

Points are earned and redeemed for perks and purchases, regardless of status level.

Milestones provide one-time recognition based on total days sailed.

Stars and points are tied to spending, whether through cruise bookings or purchases made with the affiliated Mastercard. This means everyday spending outside of cruises can also contribute to earning them.

Both stars and points are subject to expiration after certain periods.

Milestones, however, are based entirely on sailing history and are intended to recognize long-term loyalty independently of spending.

Carnival has made several adjustments and clarifications to the program over the past year, and this latest update appears to be another effort to simplify how it works ahead of its launch.

With these details now available, loyal Carnival cruisers have a clearer understanding of what their time at sea will earn them.
