Royal Caribbean Boosts Benefits For ‘The Key’ VIP Package

Royal Caribbean has upgraded its paid priority-access package, The Key, by introducing a new spa saving and improving existing discounts on sporting activities.

The programme, which already includes sought-after perks such as priority boarding, carry-on bag drop-off, reserved seating at shows, and internet access, is designed for guests who want a more streamlined onboard experience.

Bigger Savings on Activities

Until now, The Key gave members a 25% discount on select sporting attractions. That saving has now doubled, with 50% off a range of popular onboard activities.

The exact options vary by ship. On the newest vessels – Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas – guests can use it towards Crown’s Edge.

On Quantum-class ships it applies to Ripcord by iFly, while other vessels may offer discounted FlowRider sessions for private lessons – typically, the attraction is free to use.

New Spa Discount Added

Another fresh perk is a one-time spa voucher. Passengers purchasing a treatment costing $250 or more can take $60 off the price.

The range of services includes everything from traditional massages and body wraps to IV therapies and cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening.

Is It Worth the Price?

The Key remains one of the more expensive add-ons at sea, usually ranging between $25 and $40 per person, per day.

Every guest in the same stateroom over the age of six must purchase it, meaning families can easily spend over $1,000 for a week-long sailing.

However, many cruisers see value in the package, especially when factoring in internet costs, priority embarkation, and entertainment access.

For those already planning to buy WiFi, The Key can represent good value if the extra perks are used.

Royal Caribbean does adjust the benefits from time to time.

Earlier in 2025, for example, complimentary FlowRider private sessions were dropped and replaced by the original 25% sports discount – which has now been enhanced further.

For anyone tempted, it’s worth keeping an eye on the cruise line’s app or website, where discounts of up to 40% are sometimes offered.
