Carnival Horizon Passenger Reported Missing After Visit to Bonaire

Authorities in Bonaire are searching for a passenger who vanished after disembarking from Carnival Horizon last week and failing to return to the ship.

The missing guest has been identified as Jessica Collins, 47, from the United States. She was last seen on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, when she stepped ashore in Kralendijk, Bonaire during the ship’s Southern Caribbean itinerary.

Collins did not return to the vessel before its scheduled departure time. Crew members called her name repeatedly over the ship’s public address system, a standard procedure when passengers are late back on board, but she never reappeared.

Security Footage Released

The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) has released images taken from port security cameras, showing what Collins was wearing at the time:

A light button-down shirt
Light blue shorts
Sandals
A grey backpack that appeared to be full

She also carried a water bottle and AirPods. While some of her belongings remained on the ship, authorities confirmed that she had taken her identification documents ashore.

Police in Bonaire have continued their search since last week and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Tip lines include:

Authorities are also reviewing additional CCTV footage from the port area to track her movements after leaving the vessel.

Carnival’s Response

Carnival Cruise Line has not issued a public statement but is understood to be cooperating fully with investigators. Carnival Horizon completed its voyage and returned to PortMiami on Sunday, 21 September, before departing again the same day on a new sailing. The ship is not scheduled to call at Bonaire again until 15 October 2025.

Rare but Not Unprecedented

Cases of missing cruise passengers are rare, but they do occur for a variety of reasons. In April 2024, for example, Brad Solomon disappeared from Icon of the Seas in Cozumel, with health issues thought to have played a role. Later that year, a teenage boy went missing from Caribbean Princess in Germany but was safely located two days later.

One of the most widely known cases is Amy Bradley, who disappeared from Rhapsody of the Seas in 1998 while docked in Curaçao and has never been found.

Despite these incidents, millions of passengers travel safely on cruise ships each year, and disappearances remain exceptionally uncommon.

As of today, Collins has not been located, and the search in Bonaire remains active. Authorities continue to seek tips from anyone who may have seen her after she left the ship.
