Disney Wish Man Overboard Response Turns Out To Be A False Alarm

Passengers on Disney Wish endured a tense evening on 26th August 2025, when the ship’s man overboard alarm was triggered during its journey from Nassau to Castaway Cay.

The full emergency response was activated, but it was later confirmed that no one had actually gone overboard.

Emergency Protocol Activated

The overboard signal was sounded at roughly 8 pm, prompting the ship to quickly slow and turn back around 15 miles north of Nassau.

Rescue boats were launched and life rings deployed as crew members used spotlights to scan the sea.

In line with safety procedures, all guests were called to their muster stations while a headcount was completed.

The sudden stop and onboard announcements caused understandable concern among passengers.

Object Mistaken for Person in Water

Following several hours of coordinated search efforts with rescue boats and crew teams, the supposed overboard turned out to be debris floating in the water.

Once all passengers and crew were accounted for, the captain confirmed the false alarm and the ship resumed its scheduled voyage.

Strong Response Despite No Danger

Although no one was ever missing, the incident shows just how seriously cruise lines take any overboard report.

Disney Wish’s response mirrored that of a genuine emergency, ensuring every precaution was taken until all were confirmed safe.

Disney Cruise Line crew are always on high alert, but especially so after a real overboard incident at the end of June 2025.

During that incident, a young child fell overboard and her father dived into the ocean to rescue her. Thankfully both were rescued.

The ship continues its 4-night Bahamas sailing, which departed Port Canaveral on 25th August and includes stops at Nassau and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
