A viral TikTok video has left millions of viewers holding their breath after showing a cruise guest stuck inside one of Norwegian Cruise Line’s most daring attractions — the Ocean Loops waterslide.
The short clip, posted by TikTok user @kaylamierzejewski, captures the woman grinding to a halt right at the lowest point of the slide. With the clear tube suspended over the open ocean, she’s left awkwardly wedged, unable to move forward or back.

Not Your Average Pool Deck Slide
Ocean Loops is no ordinary waterslide. Found only on three Norwegian ships – Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy, and Norwegian Encore, the slide juts dramatically over the edge of the vessel, giving riders a heart-stopping view of the sea below.
Guests must meet strict height and weight requirements (48 inches tall and between 120–300 pounds), but even then, riders often don’t make it through the full loop. Instead, many end up sliding backwards to a standstill — exactly what happened in the viral video.
Fortunately, the slides are built with safety in mind. An escape hatch is located nearby, and crew members are always on hand to help guests exit safely.
Millions React Online
Since being uploaded on September 19, 2025, the clip has been watched over seven million times and sparked nearly 10,000 comments.
- “I would die of a panic attack immediately,” wrote one viewer.
- “Stuck in a waterslide over the actual ocean would send me into a psychosis,” said another.
- Others described the clip as a “new fear unlocked,” with some admitting they felt claustrophobic just watching.
The strong reaction may be amplified by a recent incident on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas. In August, part of the ship’s Frightening Bolt waterslide cracked open mid-ride, injuring a guest and sending water gushing onto the deck.
In contrast, the Ocean Loops video wasn’t the result of a malfunction — just an unlucky rider not making it through the full loop. Still, for viewers watching from home, the sight of someone stuck in a transparent tube high above the sea was more than enough to trigger vertigo and sweaty palms.
A Badge of Honour?
Interestingly, some cruisers actually treat “getting stuck” as part of the fun. Exiting via the slide’s escape hatch has become a quirky badge of honour — proof you dared to take on one of the most intimidating rides at sea.
So while the internet may be panicking, seasoned cruisers know it’s just another wild story from life onboard.
