Royal Caribbean’s Next “Perfect Day” Is Bigger, Wilder—and Not Where You’d Expect

Royal Caribbean has revealed details of its most over-the-top private destination yet – and it’s not in the Bahamas. Perfect Day Mexico, opening in 2027, is going all in with more than 30 waterslides, a two-mile stretch of beach, and the world’s longest lazy river, which will take over an hour to float from start to finish.

Spanning 230 acres, Perfect Day Mexico will be twice the size of Perfect Day at CocoCay and is set to become one of the largest cruise ports ever built entirely from scratch. It will be designed to accommodate 20,000 to 21,000 guests per day.

The World’s Longest Lazy River — With a Wild Side

One of the most talked-about features of Perfect Day Mexico is the record-breaking lazy river. It’s not just long — it’s epic. Expect a relaxing float that can last more than an hour, winding through tropical scenery with float-up bars, cupholders in every tube, and even the option to bring a beer cooler along for the ride.

Best of all, access to the lazy river is included in your cruise fare—no day pass is needed.

But it’s not all gentle currents. At one point, the river splits — and if you’re feeling brave, you can take the “crazy” branch. This part of the river throws in rapids, waves, spins, and unexpected twists, all designed to add a shot of adrenaline to your lazy-day plans.

Over 30 Waterslides, Including the Tallest in the Americas

Perfect Day Mexico isn’t just about chilling — it’s a full-on thrill zone. Loco Waterpark is located at the heart of the action, home to more than 30 waterslides spread across five towering slide complexes. Royal Caribbean is doubling down on what guests love most: raft slides, including a giant family raft slide built for up to six people.

Loco Waterpark will be a ticketed area, just like Thrill Waterpark at CocoCay, so cruisers can choose whether to pay for the splashiest thrills.

The headline act? Jaguar’s Peak — a jaw-dropping 170-foot-tall slide tower, officially the tallest in North and South America. You’ll also find hydrolaunch slides that shoot you into the air, and the world’s first-ever sombrero slide, shaped like Mexico’s most iconic hat.

Splash Cove and the Ultimate Family Pool Day

Right at the heart of Perfect Day Mexico is Splash Cove, a sprawling zone built for all-day fun. It’s home to the world’s longest lazy river, but there’s plenty more — including a 100,000-square-foot pool (yes, you read that right), one of more than 10 pools across the destination. Together, they cover an area the size of four football fields.

For families, there’s a huge Splashaway Bay with kid-friendly slides, splash zones, and the first-ever Splashaway Cabanas, giving parents a comfy base right next to the action. Whether your kids are waterpark daredevils or just want to paddle, this place has them covered.

Adults-Only Vibes at El Hideaway

El Hideaway is your spot if your idea of a perfect day involves cocktails, music, and zero kids. This adults-only zone is for guests aged 18+ and brings serious party energy with a massive 50,000-square-foot zero-entry pool, multiple swim-up bars, and a live in-pool DJ keeping the vibes going all day.

You can book a spot in the Ultimate Party Cabana, which comes with its own private pool, bar, and space for up to 20 people — basically your own VIP beach club within the beach club. Or, if you’re more into laid-back luxury, there are toes-in-the-sand bars, live music, and chilled-out cabanas too.

Luxury Lounging at Costa Beach Club and Chill Beach

Not everything at Perfect Day Mexico is go-go-go. If you’re after a slower pace, you’ve got options — starting with Chill Beach, a stunning stretch of coastline that runs for nearly two miles along both sides of the pier. With complimentary loungers, umbrellas, and towels, it’s the perfect place to switch off and soak up the sun.

Want to take it up a notch? Head to the Costa Beach Club, Royal Caribbean’s premium beach experience. Think heated infinity pools, plush loungers, and private cabanas with personal attendants. It’s a quieter, more exclusive way to spend your day — ideal for cruisers who prefer a glass of fizz to a waterslide.

Fiesta Plaza: Where the Party Begins

From the moment you step off the ship, Fiesta Plaza sets the tone. Designed to immerse guests in the spirit of Mexico, it’s a vibrant welcome zone filled with live music, dancing, and bold colours. It’s not just a walkway — it’s a full-blown experience.

Look up and you’ll spot the world’s largest sombrero towering above the Tipsy Sombrero Bar, where margaritas and cervezas are ready and waiting. And if you fancy arriving in style, you can even hop on a trajinera — a Mexican-style gondola — to glide through the port.

Dining And Bars Will Be a Major Focus

Food and drink are getting a bigger role than early reports suggested.

Perfect Day Mexico will feature 12 regionally inspired dining venues spread across the property. Not one buffet. Not one food court. Real variety. There will also be 24 bars in total. Including six swim-up bars. One restaurant has already been named: ¡Salud! And it won’t be the only standout.

That’s more variety than most cruise ports offer, and it gives guests plenty of choice throughout the day.

Perfect Day Mexico Is Part of a Much Bigger Strategy

Perfect Day Mexico isn’t standing alone. It’s part of Royal Caribbean’s growing Royal Beach Club Collection, which is reshaping how the line thinks about ports entirely.

In December 2025, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island officially opened in Nassau. It’s Royal Caribbean’s first step into a full beach club collection.

The headline feature? The world’s largest swim-up bar, The Floating Flamingo. All-inclusive day passes there run from $129.99 to $169.99 per adult, depending on the date.

And that’s just the start. More Royal Beach Clubs are already on the way, with additional destinations planned next.

Opening in 2027 — Here’s How to Be Among the First

Perfect Day Mexico is set to open in late 2027, with Royal Caribbean expected to announce an exact launch date later this year. Cruises visiting the new destination are planned from Galveston, New Orleans and all Florida homeports, and itineraries that include Perfect Day Mexico are anticipated to go on sale ahead of its opening.

There’s also a notable perk for Gulf Coast cruisers. Itineraries sailing from Galveston and New Orleans will be able to visit both Royal Beach Club Cozumel and Perfect Day Mexico on the same cruise.

New Icon Class ships like:

• Star of the Seas (launching August 2025)
• Legend of the Seas (launching summer 2026)

…are being built to pair seamlessly with Perfect Day stops.
